Exploring Wisdom
10.00am - Third Tuesday of the month
As arranged, including occasionally via Zoom

We are a small group of thinkers who meet once a month to discuss philosophical matters. We are a relaxed and friendly group, and we like to approach our topics with humour along with the necessary intellectual rigour.

Before the pandemic we were working through a book of 100 Essential Thinkers by Philip Stokes, taking turns to focus on a chapter on one of the thinkers, researching the subject, and presenting a summary to the group at a meeting in the living room of the group convenor. Along came the pandemic and lockdown, so we changed to more frequent Zoom meetings, departing from the book to present a variety of topics, picked each time by the person giving the presentation. We are back now meeting monthly, when we can in someone’s living room or garden, or resorting to Zoom if circumstances deem it necessary. We are also about to revert to working through the book, starting back in with Sigmund Freud.

We have started meeting back in person again, but we still use Zoom when this is not practical. We have lost a number of members of the group, largely due to failing health, and we are now down to 8 members, not all of whom are able to attend regularly. We are therefore open to a few new members.
