The Longer Walks Group started in 2015 to provide more challenging walks for U3A members. The walks are generally 10 to 12 miles and could include significant ascents and descents.

Members are encouraged to suggest walks and lead them if they are happy to, though there is no requirement to do so. It is up to leaders to decide whether or not they need to pre-walk their routes. On recent walks the number of participants has averaged about fourteen and we do not see the need to limit membership numbers.

Most walks are in the local area but we sometimes go farther afield. For instance, in recent years we have been to Avebury, the Marlborough Downs and the Mendips. Although some walks are based in Bath, where necessary we use buses or members' cars to get to the start and end of walks.

Regrettably, dogs are not permitted on our walks.

If you are interested and would like to come on one of our walks, or would just like more information, u3a members can contact us via the details in the members’ newsletter. Non‑members can email us at:
