The u3a choir meets every term time Monday morning at 10.30 until 12.00 in the Widcombe Baptist Church. We hope to restore the coffee break as soon as Covid restrictions allow.
The repertoire varies from madrigals, rounds and part-songs to major works such as Faure’s Requiem, Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast, and Hummel’s Mass in Bb. We enjoy studying and singing a wide variety of choral music, and in normal years, give the occasional informal performance to an invited audience. The emphasis is on enjoyment, making friends, and simply SINGING!
All u3a members are welcome to the choir and there are no auditions. However some previous experience of choral singing is useful together with an ability to read music. The choir currently has approximately 50 members.
We welcome enquiries from interested members for all voices. We do have to ask for a termly subscription, just to cover running costs. This is in addition to the annual u3a membership. Currently we are also seeking an accompanist willing to step in on an ad hoc basis.
If you would like more information, u3a members can contact Sue our Music Director, or Clare our Convenor, whose details are in the Members’ Newsletter. Non-members can email us at:
