| BRIDGE, INTERMEDIATE |
|
2.00 pm - Alternate Mondays, but not Bank Holidays.
This is purely a recreational group, with no teaching involved, other than learning by the experience of playing the game and perhaps benefitting from advice from others, The current membership of the group has a wide range of abilities from experienced club players to improvers who have not played very much since receiving initial basic instruction. The only requirement to join is a basic understanding of the Acol bidding system, and a partner is not required. There is always plenty of room for more members. The play is social rubber bridge (as opposed to duplicate or "Chicago"). When there is not an exact number of complete tables, there is a system of frequent "cutting out" to avoid members sitting out for very long. Disabled access is easy on the ground floor of Fitzroy House. We meet in the dining room, which is reached from the rear entrance in Pulteney Mews. Play is from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, with a break for tea and biscuits, although most members tend to arrive a little early. We play every second Monday, avoiding bank holidays if possible, with an average of twice per calendar month. Because we pay a charge for the use of the room, the current cost is £2.00 per session with a variable rebate to those playing frequently. ***** |
